Central to our mission are Chesapeake Bloom's core values of reducing our carbon footprint, protecting our ecosystem and giving back to our local community.
At Chesapeake Blooms, it is imperative that we:
1) remain deeply rooted in the local community supporting local flower farmers, products and artisans,
2) aim to responsibly source flowers and botanicals. Our goal is to use local and regionally sourced flowers from sustainable sources whenever possible including our own florals from Hoopsy Daisy’s Farm and Samantha’s garden which is planted with unusual botanical specimens that offer horticulture interest year-round. If other sources are required we look for Veriflora or Fairtrade certified when possible,
3) and utilize environmentally friendly practices and materials. Our practice is to compost all unused organic materials and the studio is committed to recycling, upcycling and re-using materials. We rely on the natural armature of branches, stems and other techniques when we are able, making it a point of not using artificial foam as little as possible.
